Aviva Premiership: Pick of the Weekend

Sale vs Gloucster, Aj Bell Stadium, Friday 20:00

Two sides with varying degrees of spluttering starts meet in the great Dome of Depression on Friday.  Gloucester are carrying an injury list that looks to prove rugby is most definitely not going soft and Sale, while not exactly flying are at home, where they fair better.  In fact, it’s not overstating matters to say they generally have a worse record of performing away from home than Donald Trump at UN meetings.  All of which suggests a win for the Sharks, and get ready for a cameo for James O’Connor and his glowing quiff of creativity off the bench.

Sharks win

Northampton vs Harlequins, Franklin’s Gardens, Saturday 15:00

John Kingston wedges his well furnished frame into no doubt uncomfortable coach seat to lead his team on a trip up the M1 to take on the rejuvenated Northampton at the Gardens.  There is a potentially epic battle of the younglings between Harry Mallinder and Marcus Smith in the ten shirt as they compete to be the most overhyped player in the Britsh Isles come 5pm on Saturday. What is interesting is that Saints have gone from being a shambles to a team you look at and think it’s pretty bloody good, all within the space of a a month and all with the same line-up.  This suggest one of two things; Jim Mallinder is a genius or the viewing public are a bit thick and/or toey when it comes to making decision about quality.  It’s clearly the latter.

Saints win.

Wasps vs Bath, TraitorDome, Sunday 15:00.

Will probably resemble a giant, maladroit flashmob with tries while Dai Young looks on with his face like someone has just told him his toilet cistern has a small leak.
